Romantics Anonymous is a sweet, charming story from France about two emotional chocolate lovers and a blossoming romance. It’s characters are cute, plot is light and most importantly it made me laugh and left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

We meet Angélique (Isabelle Carré) who is a very pretty and uncontrollably shy chocolate maker and enthusiast. She is also very talented but prefers to keep inside her shell. When she goes for a job at a struggling chocolate company owned by Jean-René (Benoît Poelvoorde), we quickly see that his emotions are also very extreme in that he’s highly nervous and shy around women, or even people in general. Movie Review – Romantics Anonymous (2011)
The Weekly Watch: Installment #9
Another variety blockbuster week. I looked at new releases in Australia of Coriolanus and 21 Jump Street. I also managed to watch the romantic and emotional movie Like Crazy which is in Australian theaters still.
After watching Alien last week I watched Aliens this week too which was also great. Finally, I rewatched one of my 10 A+ movies in Superbad, a classic! Read on and give me your thoughts at the end too!

The Weekly Watch: Installment #7
Another week down, another 5 movies watched. This week I took a look at 4 new Australian releases in My Week with Marilyn, A Separation, Killer Elite, and Carnage and all with differing opinions. I also knocked a movie of my large watchlist in the 2006 movie The Illusionist, which was added to the very rare ‘A’ grade ratings section.

My Week with Marilyn (2011) – A movie I was not expecting much from, it told a fantastic story about Colin Carter, a young man with a love for film, and his week working on the set with Marilyn Monroe. It tells a much greater story then that, and Michelle Williams captures Monroe brilliantly. I was very pleasantly surprised to see Emma Watson pop onto the screen, in what was not just a tiny role. The first hour had me enthralled, the final third did not as much, however it was still great and one I’m sure many will love. B- Read more
Movie Review – Warrior (2011)
Warrior is probably the most underrated film of 2011, a film that captures emotions perfectly in it’s 140 minute run time. It not only moves you with captivating performances from the cast, but keeps you entertained with a mixed martial arts tournament and the lives of two brothers competing in it.

Starring Tom Hardy as Tommy Conlon, the youngest son of a former alcoholic boxer Paddy Conlon (Nick Nolte), we first see him returning home to his Dad after years apart. Their relationship is a strained one and the opening scene where they meet for the first time in 14 years is filled with emotion, emotion that seems so real from both Hardy and Nolte. Their performances throughout are amazing, especially Nolte who was rightly awarded with a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Read more
Movie Review – Drive (2011)
Drive is a slick, cool, retro movie starring Ryan Gosling as an unnamed stunt driver, who also doubles as a getaway driver at night. It is not an action movie in the typical sense, and it isn’t filled with dialogue but instead grips you with it’s progressive build up, visual greatness and an epic soundtrack. Some people will tell you it’s one of the best movies ever, others will tell you it was ‘stupid’. There isn’t that many in between.

The opening scene is loved universally, whether they liked the movie or not. In an amazingly good looking Scorpion Jacket, we see the Driver talking on the phone. “There’s a hundred thousand streets in this city. If I drive for you, you give me a time and a place, I give you a five minute window. Anything happens in that five minutes, then I’m yours, no matter what. Anything happens a minute either side of that, and you’re on your own. Do you understand? Good. And you won’t be able to reach me on this phone again.” Cue build up music and the first scene begins. The Weekly Watch: Installment #1
A new weekly segment where I look at what movies I’ve watched this week and which you have as well. This week I’ve watched a bunch of 2011 movies in cinemas that have just come out in Australia (remember my Top 50 starts on Jan 27!) and also watched some movies at home from earlier in the year. Read on for a brief review and let me know what you’ve seen this week too.
