Friends with Kids was a hilarious look at parenthood and relationship issues that was executed well because it seemed so real. The laughs were constant and it’s only major issue was it’s runtime felt too long, even at 107 minutes.

The cast has great chemistry in this (with four of them appearing in the 2011 movie Bridesmaids) and the plot revolves around two best friends (Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt) deciding to have a child together while keeping their relationship platonic. This is so they can avoid the toll kids can take on romantic relationships, as they watch their friends struggle to deal with their children. While it seems a silly idea, it plays out in quite a realistic fashion and feels believable.
While Scott and Westfeldt are the main characters, the rest of the cast all play their part and chip in with the humour. Chris O’Dowd is my personal favourite with his frequent honesty and carefree behaviour. Jon Hamm, Kirsten Wig, Maya Rudolph and Megan Fox complete the group and together they provide some great entertainment – particularly for the first hour.

While the first half of the movie is fantastic (there’s little to criticise at all) it sadly falls down a bit towards the end. The movie feels like it drags on a bit, the laughs slow down and the emotional card is played. I don’t mind a bit of emotion but I felt it was overdone in the final third and almost ruined what was a great movie with it’s prolonging of the same storyline. It may also be that after an hour of consistent laughs it was a struggle to keep the laughs going into the last scenes.-

That speed hump aside, Friends with Kids was a movie I enjoyed for it’s entertainment, laughs and chemistry between the cast. It was occasionally crude, which was unexpected, and the characters felt like people we know in everyday life. If it was 20 minutes shorter I feel it would have been one of the best comedies of the year but it’s still worth seeing. B

I wouldn’t say it was hilarious. Rather I felt it was more a light drama with some comedy.
I agree that Chris O’Dowd was the funniest/most appealing character though
How funny is he!? Love him. Thanks for the thoughts Mich
