Bit of a quieter week this week with full time work starting, but I still managed to have a look at some classic movies! I started the week with Pan’s Labyrinth which is a Spanish movie and a great one at at that. I also took a look at Blade Runner whilst seeing a new release in Australia: Shame. Last but not least was another foreign film in I Saw The Devil.
Also a bit earlier in the week I rewatched and reviewed both Warrior and Drive.

Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) – Set in Spain 1944, this movie sets a fantasy world that will take your breath away. This movie is different, but yet another foreign film that delivers. B+
Blade Runner (1982) – After hearing about a possible sequel, I finally took a look at this movie from 30 years ago starring Harrisson Ford. Playing Rick Derrard, he must track down four replicants who have hijacked a ship in space and returned to Earth seeking there maker. It sounds more complex then it is, definitely enjoyable but deserves a sequel. Would have hated to have waited 30 years for it though! B
Shame (2011) – Finally released in Australia, Shame is an R18+ movie that is very graphic but very memorable. Michael Fassbender plays a sex addict who’s private life is interrupted when his sister Casey Mulligan arrives unannounced. This one’s not going to be for everyone, and with some awkward scenes I would reccomend not going with a loved one! It was one of the memorable movies of 2011 and worth a watch. B+
I Saw The Devil (2010) – Another foreign film this week, starring Min-sik Choi (Oldboy) who this time plays the villain, a serial killer. A secret agent then becomes obsessed with revenge, blurring the line between good and evil. If I had any problems it would be it was a bit long, but it was still a good movie. B

Another great week of movies, with all being at least a B. If you have any thoughts on movies I should watch let me know, although I already have a massive watchlist!

Glad to hear you enjoyed those foreign films, I still need to check out Shame.
I am gonna watch “Internal Affairs” tonight, it’s the movie that “The Departed” was based off, it’s the original Korean version, heard good things about it and will let you know if it’s worth a watch.
Cheers Josh, have heard from some that it’s better then The Departed too so keen to hear your thoughts!!
Haven’t watched a movie all week, finally seeing one tonight (The Grey)
Glad you enjoyed Shame, one of the best films I’ve ever seen. I still need to see I Saw the Devil!
