Top 50 of 2011 – The Others

It’s nearly time for my Top 50 (Friday), and with only two movies left that I can watch (The Artist and J Edgar) it’s time to cull those that didn’t make it. Assuming The Artist makes my Top 50 (which I am) there is still a big battle for 50th that I’m struggling to decide on! So in no particular order here are some movies that won’t be making The Top 50 but still worth a mention for one reason or another. Listed alphabetically;

Hangover Part II - Had it’s moments. Original much better.

In Time – Fantastic concept. Average Execution.

Johnny English Reborn – Funny, relatively enjoyable. Just misses out.

Margin Call – Simply didn’t feel it was gripping enough.

Rampart – Intense, unique, didn’t love it though.

Rango – Watchable, one of the better animated films of the year.

Tyrannosaur - Bit too ‘hard’ for my liking.

The battle for 50th spot: War Horse vs Real Steel vs J Edgar

While I don’t think J Edgar will make my top 50 from reviews I’ve read, choosing between War Horse and Real Steel for the final spot on my list is a really tough one! I didn’t really enjoy War Horse, but did feel it had brilliant cinematography, while feeling moved at times. Real Steel on the other hand was a movie that while flawed, I thoroughly enjoyed, except for the little kid who annoyed me to no end. Definitely a choice I’ll have to think about over the next two days!

What would you choose out of Real Steel and War Horse? Anyone seen J Edgar and feel it may surprise me?

    Haha – I’m just dying to see The Artist already. Forget Oscar Noms, Top 50 is where it’s at! ;)
